The Luxury Hen House from Houses for Hens
The Hetty Henhouse is built in a British workshop using tanalised timber with quality tongue and groove timber on a solid pine frame, shiplap roof and exterior plywood floor. The hen house incorporates all the features I felt were essential for the comfort and health of our own Hetty hen and her ladies.
What the Hen Home Includes:
- Deluxe home for up to 6 – 12 birds depending on breed⁄size
- Quality tongue and groove timber on pine frame
- Tanalised timber – making timber treatment prior to assembly unnecessary
- Shiplap timber roof – an improvement on roofing felt which has a tendency to encourage red mite infestation
- Slide out exterior plywood floor – excellent for easy cleaning
- Removable nest box and lid – incorporating 3 individual nest boxes
- Good size rear access door – easy access to birds and cleaning
- Four removable perches
- Ventilation in roof eaves – airflow without the draught
- Removable roof sections
- Sliding pophole with black japanned hook and eye retainer
- Access ramp
- Substantial stand with three sides enclosed by wire mesh panels one of which is hinged for access should you wish to attach the run
The Hetty Henhouse sits on a 19” frame which allows for:
- Shelter from the British weather for both birds and expensive food
- Prevents rodents from nesting underneath
- Allows access to the house for egg collection and cleaning without causing an aching back!
Most of the features have been incorporated into the hen home to make cleaning as easy as possible – this is extremely important as bacteria grows very quickly in unclean hen houses.

An outdoor hen run is available for the Hetty Henhouse. This is attached to the front of the henhouse with an access door at the opposite end. Approximate size: 1830mm(72”) long x 1040mm(41”) wide x 950mm(37”) high
